About

The Tailor:

Hi there! I’m Kathryn Sogard the tailor at Will & Ward Alteration Studios. I am a native Iowan, and have worked in the bridal industry in some shape or form since 2004. Starting first in fashion jewelry while studying Textile and Apparel at the University of Northern Iowa. After spend several years working in fashion jewelry and later fine jewelry my bridal career gained a real focus after being hired as a full time bridal consultant at Hope’s Bridal in Atkins, Iowa.

My love for sewing started back in high school were I designed and altered several dresses for formal dances. I am sure my 7th grade family and consumer science teacher at Price Lab School in Cedar Falls, Iowa would never have thought I’d work full time as a tailor when she saw the outcome of my required shorts project. They were bright green with soccer ball print and they were horribly put together. But here we are.

I took that love for sewing full time after leaving my job as a non-profit executive director this past spring. I am a proud partner of Hope’s Bridal, but also grateful for my local community as they have trusted me with some very important garments for their special events.

…The Business:

We wanted the business to be a tribute to two very important entrepreneurs. Ward “Pete” Dale Countryman, & Laurence William Huber. Named for both of Kathryn’s grandpas, Will & Ward Alterations Studio is a tribute to the hard work, passion, & loyalty, both put into their farm, & auto body repair shop.

Will & Ward specializes in formal gown alterations. Including: Bridal Gowns, Bridesmaid, Mother of the Bride/Groom, Prom Dresses, & Special Occasion Dresses.
